You won’t want to miss our next meeting as we will be learning more about Amendment 2 that will be on the November ballot. This amendment has a lot of negative implications for public schools. March 1st Meeting
Hello Retired Educators! It’s time to mark your calendars for our March 1st meeting at 10:00 (9:30 if you’re a breakfast eater).
*Breakfast will begin at 9:30 with French toast casserole and a yogurt bar with fruit, granola, honey, etc.
Bring $5 and an appetite.
*Please bring paper products/personal items for donations to the Women’s Center
*Bring a list of questions for our guest speaker Chris Butler – a pharmacist! He can advise us on all of our
prescription questions (such as how local vs national chains work or online prescription services, or drug
interactions and precautions, or the value of vitamins? etc.
*Mary Porter will be presenting this year’s AARP Essay Contest winner.

September 2023 Meeting
The Henderson County Retired Teachers Association will meet Friday, September 8th, 2023 at the Professional Development Center on Sixth St. Meeting starts at 10a.m. but breakfast and socializing fun starts at 9:30. Please reply to this email by September 2nd if you plan to enjoy breakfast and bring $5. We are trying out an alternative to lunch at this meeting and we will discuss and compare and vote on future meal plans. There will be a brief game with prizes at 9:50 with Barbara Barr, our new vice-president, to kick off our meeting with fun.
Our theme for this meeting is valuing ourselves and our community as local resources. Emphasis will be on local services that benefit us and ways we benefit our community. We will be having a mini local resources fair at the end of our meeting with local presenters from the Volunteer Information Center, CASA, a local attorney, and more. We will be filling out our volunteer forms for the year so far and planning for the end of the year. Please come and please bring your friends who are retired educators.

Due to the flooding and closure of school, the HCRTA will not meet on Friday, March 3, 2023.

We will be meeting on Friday, March 3, at 10:00 at the Professional Development Center on Sixth St. Our donation this month is canned goods for the Salvation Army. Lunch will be from Fazoli’s.
