2019 HCRTA and 2nd District Scholarship Recipient
Meredith Claybrook, the daughter of Gary and Karla Claybrook, is a senior elementary education major at the Murray State University Henderson Regional Campus. She is a graduate of Henderson County High School and Henderson Community College and has been on the Dean’s List each semester while attending MSU. She will do her student teaching in the Spring of 2020.


2018 HCRTA and 2nd District Scholarship Recipient
J.T. Payne is a senior agricultural education major at Murray State University and a 2016 graduate of Henderson County High School. He is the son of Jimmy and Penny Payne and the grandson of Lois Payne, all of Henderson.
Payne has completed two internships during his time at Murray State. In the summer of
2017 he was an intern for the Henderson Cooperative Extension Service in 4-H and Youth Development and during the summer of 2018 he interned for Congressman James Comer in Washington D.C. focusing on agricultural policy.
He currently serves as the Student Body President at Murray State, Student Regent on the Murray State Board of Regents, Chairman of the Kentucky Board of Student Body Presidents, and President of the Murray State College Republicans. He is also a student worker for Racer Academy: an online program for high school students to earn college credit.
Payne has been present on the Dean’s list each semester of enrollment at Murray State and will student teach in the spring of 2019. He looks forward to a long career as both an educator and a strong advocate for public education.
